The import regime for organic products from third countries is governed by  Regulation  EC n. 1235/08, application of art. 32 and 33 of  Regulation EC 834/07, which recognizes that the rules of organic production and control systems adopted by non-EU countries are equivalent to those in force within the European Union (Annex III ).

The importers must then register with the recognised control authority or body of the third country concerned.

All consignments of imported organic products must be accompanied by an inspection certificate.
