Actinidia – Kiwi

Origin:

the plant is originally from China although the development of the crop has taken placeBy the early 20th century in New Zealand, and from there has spread throughout the world. Italy is now the world’s leading producer and Piedmont is the first Italian region in the marketing.

The fruit:

oval elongated berry  with robust brown peel coverd with hairs, the flesh is firm and green; in the central part it is present the columella, to which are radially distribuited hundreds of small dark seeds, that they are not warned when you eat the fruit.

September 20 – November 10

Flavor:

sweet, sourish.

Curiosity:

its vitamin C content is twice as high as the one contained in citrus fruits. His name is linked to its resemblance to the bird with the same name.

It's good because:

they are the fruits in nature among the richest of vitamin C, containing more than citrus fruits. This vitamin has the important function of defending the body against infectious and viral diseases. The high percentage of sugars makes the kiwi a concentrated source of of energy, while the high fiber content makes it valuable to regularize the motion of the intestine. Its high nutritional properties make it ideal as a complete snack.
