Peperone – Cv diverse

Description:

the pepper is a hollow berry. The cultivars are distinguished by particular characteristics of the fruit that can be sweet or spicy, large or small, cuboid in shape, more or less regular, pyramidal, elongated or short, red, yellow, green, brown or dark. In Piedmont  the pepper of Carmagnola is particularly valuable.

Origin:

the pepper is an annual plant in the Mediterranean climate and perennial in warm countries of South America where it came from. In fact, it is native to the Americas (Mexico), but at present it is grown all over the world. It was introduced to Europe by the Spaniards and was an immediate success. In addition to the famous sweet pepper, typically it includes various types of hot, ornamental and sweet peppers.

Flavor:

sweet or spicy depending on the variety.

Curiosity:

the pepper with bagna cauda is a typical Piedmontese dish.

It's good because:

the pepper is very rich in water (more than 90%) and is therefore low in calories. It is especially rich in vitamin C, regardless of color. The red pepper is very rich in provitamin A, while the green one contains more vitamin B9. The potassium concentration is very high, while that of sodium is very low, which gives it natural diuretic properties.
